Biographical Walking Maps of Life After Prison in Cork City
As part of the CLEAN SLATE CORK project we- the peer researchers- created biographical walking maps on the broad theme of ‘life after prison’ in Cork City. Initially, the idea was to design these walks as illustrations of navigating life after prison and focusing specifically on accessing education and employment.
However, we decided that it was more useful to design biographical walks that would enable us to convey important messages from our experiences of life after prison. Hence we created three tailor-made biographical walks in and near Cork City.
Each walk is based on very personal biographical experiences while at the same time containing rich insights into ongoing wider societal issues that concern us all. As a group, we collaboratively conceptualised, planned, mapped and took photographs, which resulted in our maps.
